for Virtual Sailor NG
It happens to the best of us! Sometimes, something isn't installed correctly, something is missing, or something just isn't working. Not to worry though, everything you need to troubleshoot these issues is listed here.
1
Cannot load in; Black Screen / 0FPS / Sim crashing.
Usually, this happens because your device does not have enough processing power. Minimum requirements for each product are listed on the product page.
If you are using Vulkan, that might also be the cause, as it is not compatible with all graphics cards.
2
Holes behind flood lights.
Make sure you have the "Full Color PNG" setting ticked. It is only available after loading in, under the graphics panel.
3
I have launched the simulator but I cannot select the product, not shown on the list.
Make sure you have installed all files correctly, following the instructions on the "readme.pdf" file included in each product. Make sure you have not replaced or overwritten any files. A fresh install is what we recommend.
4
Instruments not showing.
This is because the core instruments folder, within the product files, is missing. In order to fix this, you will need to do a fresh install.
5
Why is the hull visible from the bridge wings?
Unless you have set the water graphics to "ref+ref", and underwater visibility over 20 (2-10 recommended limits), then you have to untick the "Hide Water" option from the graphics panel.
6
I have installed the screen HUDs correctly, but the appropriate one appears.
The issue is caused by the type of vehicle you are using. Third-party addons that are not correctly configured with our HUDs may cause the wrong ones to appear. It is best to check with the addon creator.
7
I have installed the screen HUDs correctly, but I cannot change between the navigation and maneuver panel.
Each time you want the panel to appear, you will need to select it by going to the Panels dialog and choosing Navigation Panel (shift+p).
8
Why are external sounds (such as wind, ramp alarm) playing while in the bridge?
To lower/mute the wind volume, go to the "Sounds" dialog and adjust the "Wind Volume" slider. External sounds from moving parts or animations cannot be filtered out, as this is a simulator limitation.
