Installation
Guide

for Virtual Sailor NG

Installation of our our add-ons is a relatively straight forward process. This guide explains it in detail, step by step.

Downloading the add-on.

Our add-ons range from vehicles, sceneries, graphics, sounds, and panels and/or separate on screen instruments. Each of the above has a different installation process, but with common grounds. After you purchase an add-on from us (guide can be found here), you will have to download a .zip file. Each .zip file starts with the shipyard identifier [CSim], then with the prodcut identifier [VEH/PAN/SND/GRPH/SCN] (Vehicle/Panel/Sound Pack/Graphics Pack/Scenery).

2

Unpacking the add-on.

The most common way of unpacking a .zip file, is extracting it on your desktop. However, extraction location is entirely up to your preference. Having unzipped the file, you will be faced with two file instances. One, the actuall add-on folder, and the 'readme.pdf' file.

3

Installing the add-on.

We recommend you read the readme file regardless of your installation knowledge. You must locate your Virtual Sailor NG directory (/Virtual Sailor NG). The Virtual Sailor NG folder contains numerous subfolders. Following, there is a list of the respective folders for each add-on.

  • Vehicle Add-on:     /Virtual Sailor NG/Vehicles*

  • Panel Add-on:       /Virtual Sailor NG/Panels*

  • Sound Pack:          /Virtual Sailor NG/Sounds

  • Graphics Pack:      /Virtual Sailor NG/Graphics

  • Scenery Pack:       /Virtual Sailor NG/Scenery*

Having spotted the correct folder, you must open it and transfer the 'CSim_[ADDON NAME]' folder extracted from the zip file. If asked to replace/skip a file, you will need to click on replace. (Exceptions apply and are listed below.)

*If you are installing a vehicle, panel, or scenery pack and are asked to replace or skip a file, you must delete the original folder in which the file is located. An entirely fresh install is needed for these types of add-ons.

Using the add-on.

Vehicles

To load a vehicle after you have launched the simulator and are located in the home screen, you must click on "Situations", "New Situation", select the add-on vehicle from the "Vehicles" list, and select a spawn location. You are ready to go!

Panels

To use an add-on panel after you have installed it correctly, you need to be spawned in first. Having done that, press 'P' or any other button you have assigned to toggle the on-screen panels. In case you would like to use a panel that does not open up by deafult (will be mentioned in the relative readme.pdf file), you need to press 'Shift+P', then a panels dialog on the top right hand corner of your screen will open up. Scroll down until you find it, click on it, and you are set (Hiding the panel will require you to do this again.)

Sounds

After you have installed the add-on sound pack accordingly, the game will manage it on its own. No need to do anything after launching the simulator.

Graphics

Just like with the sound packs, the game handles graphic packs by its own. Make sure you have correctly installed the graphics pack.

Sceneries

Last but not least, to use a scenery, you either identify it on the map after pressing "New Situation", or identify it on the "Sceneries" dialog. Then, you spawn in as you would otherwise.
